Network Transformation Lead (Technical)
As our Network Transformation Lead (Technical) reporting to our Network Transformation Manager, you'll challenge and explore how we do things now, and in the future. We want you to explore, pilot and deploy solutions and alternative approaches to ensure we are prepared for the changing energy environment so we can enable a transition to a low carbon future that has a strong focus on our network.

The role
- Develop and refine the Orion network transformation roadmap and develop business cases for research and development projects
- Conduct and support research, development and pilot programme works while providing generalist engineering advice
- Lead and support Orion's participation in industry and public forums while recommending solutions that affect the design and operation of the future network
- Lead and support the design of systems and processes that streamline network connection processes and data use/collection
- Contribute to Orion's position in the future of system operation, the pathway to get there, and broader industry readiness
- Work across the Orion network to standardise Distributed Energy Resources (DER) requirements
About you
- Seasoned technical leader with experience in roles related to electricity network operations with a Power Engineering qualification
- Distribution-network authority - knowledge in New Zealand's electricity landscape with a sharp eye on what's next
- Ability to put strategy into action where you can turn Orion's vision into clear and actionable roadmaps
- Demonstrated success in developing innovative solutions and driving new, more effective ways of working
- Proven experience in preparing business cases, leading pilot programmes, and driving research and development initiatives
